and felt a greater sense of well-being than did men who had not resolved the crisis (Mean=2.66). These findings support for the study's first hypothesis.
The second hypothesis of the study predicted that death anxiety would be greater among those who had not resolved the psychosocial crisis of old age than among those who had resolved the crisis. Table 2 presents the descriptive statistics and ANOVA summary findings for the test of this second hypothesis.
As shown by inspection of Table 2, findings were significant (F=34.64; df(1,88), p<.0001). Death anxiety was significantly higher among men who had not resolved the crisis (Mean = 28.85) than among men who had resolved the crisis (Mean = 24.00). Thus, the findings of the study supported the second research hypothesis.
Crisis Resolution and Identification With Worker Role
The study's third hypothesis predicted that role identification would be higher among retirees who had not resolved the psychosocial crisis of old age than among retirees who had resolved the crisis. Descriptive statistics along with ANOVA summary findings are presented in Table 3 which clearly shows that results were not significant. Thus, the study's third research hypothesis was not supported by the findings of the study.
