The study investigated prognosis in breast cancer as a function of race. Methods include conducting survival analyses for a sample of 172 patients with infiltrating ductal carcinoma of the breast. Findings revealed that white women had longer overall survival rates than did black women; further, white women also had longer disease-free survival rates than black women. It was also observed that whiles had a higher incidence of hormone receptor-positive tumors, especially progesterone receptor tumors; however, survival rates did not differ when based on hormonal receptor differences.
