4. What professional books, journal articles, or specific authors have you already researched in order to conduct your proposed study?
I have already examined a number of behavioral and medical databases as well as a variety of internet sources for relevant material using the key search phrase: ["Occupational Stress" or "Job Stress" and "Divorce"]. This search yielded over 160 references.
Examining these references, I found several which I considered to be highly relevant to the proposed study. These references are listed in the "Working Bibliography" presented that the end of this informal proposal.
It might be noted here that while there was a good deal of information concerning the contribution of divorce to occupational/job stress, there were far fewer studies that specifically examined this contribution in terms of the variables of: length of time since the divorce, and gender. Further, most of the empirical studies examining these two variables in relation to gender and/or length of time since the divorce, were conducted over 20 years ago. I feel that these two facts highlight why this proposed research is needed, namely there is a need for an expansion and update of the existing knowledge base in the area.
