The best way to answer this question is to compare test results before and after the intervention and ask the students themselves about their level of test anxiety (quantitative measure and qualitative description). This would include both quantitative and qualitative methods which would provide outcome information and descriptions.
2. Take a topic you would like to study, and, using the four combinations of knowledge claims, strategies of inquiry, and methods in Figure 1.2, discuss how the topic might be studied using each of the combinations. The topic I am interested in studying is how to decrease test anxiety in students; specifically if a particular intervention decreased test anxiety and resulted in increased test scores.
A quantitative approach would compare test scores and anxiety levels prior to and following the intervention.
A qualitative ethnographic approach would include a qualitative portion of a survey to assess student perceptions of their anxiety levels and performance; this would lead to additional insight regarding program intervention effects.
A qualitative narrative design might be used to discuss behaviors with a small group of students; this would lead to an increased understanding of details related to test anxiety and its effects as well as program effects.
