Not all of the 924 respondents to the survey questionnaire answered each of the items included in the survey. Some respondents had no opinion on some issues, while others did not know enough about some issues to respond, and yet other respondents refused to answer some questions.

Three of the survey questions dealing with support for the policies and actions of President Bush in relation to the war on Iraq were selected for use in this study. These three questions were as follows:

Question 2: Do you approve or disapprove of the way George W. Bush is dealing with the war in Iraq? The responses provided for this questions were ôApproveö (coded 1), ôDisapproveö (coded 2), and ôDonÆt know/ refusedö (coded 9).

Question 3: Do you thing the U.S. made the right decision or the wrong decision in using military force against Iraq? The responses provided for this questions were ôRight decisionö (coded 1), ôWrong decisionö (coded 2), and ôDonÆt know/ refusedö (coded 9).

Question 3a (restricted to persons who responded ôRight decisionö to Question 3): Which comes closer to your view? The responses provided for this question were as follows:
