The mission statement of the town of Davie states, "Davie, a family-oriented and diverse community that retains its hometown feeling, offers customer friendly services to its residents and is a unique jewel in central Broward County, that treasures its environment, rural and equestrian lifestyle, while attracting, encouraging and retaining viable economic and educational opportunities." This statement seems to be difficult to relate to the demographics, recent history, economy and other material included in the assignment. The stated assignment is to assess the INTERNAL STRATEGICAL ANALYSIS of the organization. The internal strategy of an organization must, by necessity, be a function of the overall strategic goals of the organization. An internal strategic analysis measures only how well the organization can achieve its goals as set by the overall strategy. sdiction. The HR department has developed a good plan of advanced training combined with tuition reimbursement and in service training. This is combined with educational pay incentive programs for police and fire departments. The "strategy" is to achieve a gradual overall improvement in the professional qualifications of the personnel in these areas through the recognition of superior education and advanced training.
Development--Development Services is responsible for areas such as code administration, civil engineering and Planning and Zoning functions. Development in the conventional business sense would probably originate with the Town Council or the Town Administrator.
Financial Services--The budget and finance department provides the organization with exactly the same functions as the finance department of any commercial organization. The only differences are semantic. The title for the VP Finance is the "Budget and Finance Director." There is a separate Business Tax Receipt operations that does not show up as linked to budget and finance on the organization chart of the BFD.
