The first objection is obvious and straightforward. Since the late 1960s, the content and imagery in pornography have become increasingly violent and misogynistic. Photographs and films depict women being bound, tortured, mutilated, and even killed for the sexual gratification of men. Women's vaginas are photographed as they are penetrated by foreign objects, including scissors and knives. Female models and actresses are induced to engage in sexual intercourse with animals, including dogs and horses, in front of cameras. Women are depicted as desiring all forms of rape. Women are graphically reduced to their individual body parts, with camera closeups of their mouths and genitalia being penetrated by penises. They are photographed most often in positions of submission, accepting whatever activity the male desires.

The second objection is directly related to the first. To produce the photographic images which depict the humiliation and degradation of women, real women had to be humiliated and degraded. Few of the acts involving foreign objects or animals are simulated. The actors are drawn into the industry when they have few other choices and are desperate for money. Many were victims of incest or sexual abuse as children. Not a few were runaways who were picked up by pimps and forced into prostitution. Others tried to pursue dreams as models and actresses but could find no work besides pornography.

The third objection, that pornography perpetuates sexual stereotypes, promotes a climate in which sexual assault is tolerated, and thus contributes to the subjugation of women, is probably the most important of the feminist objections to pornography because it argues that female subjugation is a result of pornography.
