atisfaction and dissatisfaction. To this end, the organization has commissioned an effort to measure the levels of student satisfaction and dissatisfaction through the application of an instrument designed to measure job satisfaction and dissatisfaction levels among workers in organizations.

The resolution of this problem is significant in two ways. First, if levels of satisfaction and dissatisfaction among students can be measured effectively through the application of 1

2instruments designed to measure levels of job satisfaction and dissatisfaction, it will not be necessary to expend the resources required to develop a separate measuring instrument. Second, with an adequate measure of the levels of student satisfaction and dissatisfaction, the National Organization of Business will be in a position to conduct further research, in which levels of student satisfaction and dissatisfaction may be related to dropout rates and academic performance levels.

The research performed for this study was restricted to the measurement of satisfaction and dissatisfaction levels among students in two classes at the California State University, Northridge. The research was also restricted to the application of a single measuring instrument, a copy of which is attached to this report as an appendix.

Sources of Data and Method of Collection

The data required for this research were collected through the administration of a 30item questionnaire. Three potential responses were provided for each item. Items were scored according to response, with a "5," "3," "1" scale applicable to the first 28 questionnaire items, and a "3," "3," "3" scale applicable to the last two items. The maximum possible score was 146, while the minimum possible score was 34.

A higher score on the questionnaire was assumed to reflect higher levels of satisfaction, while lower scores were 3assumed to indicate greater dissatisfaction. Qualitative value...
