Treatment of HIV/AIDS by the U.S. Health Care System
The objectives of any country's health care system with respect to effectively handling the problem of HIV/AIDS are twofold. These are: (a) to successfully prevent contraction of the HIV virus by the non-infected public; and (b) to prolong the lives of people who have already contracted HIV. This section of the paper examines the procedures, techniques, and strategies being used in the United States to effect these two objectives.
