FEMA and other agencies maintain that the second element of a sound disaster plan should be the establishment of a meeting place for all family members, should evacuation be ordered or the home affected by an attack. This meeting place can be with a friend or relative and should include provisions for pets, since many hotels and other public hospitality services do not allow pets. The meeting place should be known to all family members and, in case of an attack, it will save time and reduce confusion should the area around or the actual home be impacted by the disaster.
