Each university or college provides score requirements and there is no pass or fail score. For the TOEFL iBT, each section of the test results in a score of 0-30, and there is a total score for the whole test of 0-120. At least one question or task must be completed for each section to earn a score on the test. Maximum TOEFL score for the paper-based test is 677 (range of 200-677). Automated computer scoring and anonymous and highly trained professional raters are both used to score the TOEFL test. This helps to ensure unbiased and accurate results (ETS, 2009). A good score is more than the minimum score determined by schools (Eduers, 2010).
