The interviews ranged from 30-90 minutes and were informally organized around two questions: What do you think we know about what works in violence prevention? and Are there approaches that appear not to be effective? The interview questions were not tested for reliability and validity.
The authors reported that causes of youth crime include ineffective solutions. While there are multiple preventions, which have been implemented, only those with successful elements help eliminate violence. Since this study points out critical elements needed for success and factors which lead to a lack of success, it is concluded that program outcome is related to these factors.
